Jablanac, a place situated in a bay at the foot of picturesque Velebit channel, has some 150 inhabitants. Due to its position, facing the island of Rab, Jablanac is a ferry port and the starting point for trips to the islands of the bay of Kvarner and the island of Pag. On both sides of Jablanac, there are coves suitable for anchoring small boats. The bay of Zavratnica, resembling a fjord, is particularly interesting because the sea cuts deep into the mainland and the steep slopes of Velebit channel drop sharply into the blue waters. The area has been inhabited since ancient times and ruins of a fortress and tower bear witness to that. Jablanac is also a great starting point if you would like to explore Velebit Mountain.
Jablanac is mostly known about the fjord Zavratnica, and the National Park around it.
