Novigrad

Novigrad is a tourist resort on the west coast of Istria, the town proud of its peacefulness, cordiality and beauty as well as of its rich historical and cultural heritage. It is today also called Novigrad Istarski to make a distinction from three other towns also named Novigrad in Croatia. Novigrad is situated on small peninsula on western coast of Istria two kilometers north from mouth of river Mirna. The beginnings of tourist trade in Novigrad go as far back as the end of the 19th century. Parallelly the public beach was constructed. A sudden expansion of tourism in Novigrad began in the 1960s. Today Novigrad can provide accommodation for up to 10,000 visitors a day. Tourists can choose to stay in a hotel, pension, campsite, apartments or rooms.
