On the right bank of the river Krka, 16km far from Sibenik, lies Skradin. Its history dates back to the Illyrian times and it was named during the times of the Roman reign. At the site of the Illyrian town, ancient Scardona was founded and it became important traffic, commercial and administrative centre. On the largest town’s square there is a church of Mala Gospa from the 18th ct. with the bell tower some twenty metres far from it. In the very centre of the town there is St.Spiridon’s orthodox church from the 19th ct., and there are also the churches of St.Petko and of St.Jeronim’s.
Peaceful little town with its narrow streets, rich gastronomic offer and its famous white wine Debit will satisfy even the most demanding visitors. If you come to Skradin by boat, through the canyon of the River Krka it will be definitely a unique experience and you will never forget it.
